kolkata: north 24-parganas police say they have reasons to believe that there were at least three women who had played important roles in khadim's vice-chairman partho roy burman's abduction. bidhannagar police have interrogated a woman and her daughter residing in cd block of salt lake to find out more about the ishwariya adhyatmik vishwavidyalaya and also about their alleged connections with the abduction case and dancer swati pal.
the woman owned a company which supplied raw leather from tiljala to khadim's. the police suspect she may have been close to the roy burman family owing to her association with the spiritual university. police sources say that her house at cd block is now under constant vigil. they also say that her closeness with the roy burmans meant she knew about partho's movements. her connections with swati and her mother could have helped the abductors. her daughter was a former winner of the miss calcutta contest, the police said. bidhannagar police said the vishwavidyalaya was the meeting point of these women. a new name which has surfaced from swati's statement is that of a small-time mumbai actress. she lives in ae block.
